The Local Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, PhD, in cooperation with the various                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   sectors and organizations within the municipality, will be holding a walk-for-acause dubbed as ‘Walk and Run for YES!’ (Alay-Lakad/Takbo Tungo sa Pagiging Lungsod ng Bacoor) on 16 June 2012, 5am, along Molino Boulevard. This noteworthy activity is part of the municipality’s information awareness campaign, as it gears toward finally becoming a city. (On April 10, President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino signed the Bacoor Cityhood Bill, converting the 341-year-old municipality into a component city. A plebiscite will be held early June, which Bacoorenos are encouraged to participate in.) The ‘fun walk’ will have two (2) starting points – at Emilus Mart-RFC Molino and near 678 in Brgy Bayanan (along Molino Boulevard)– and will end at McDonalds - Molino, where a brief programme will be held. There will be NO REGISTRATION FEE; participants would just have to pre-register at the Public Information Office, 4/F of the Municipal Hall, from 16 May-11 June (M-F, 9am to 5pm), and/ or Emilus Mart branches (RFC Molino and Molino 3, M-Sat, 8am-7pm).More than 8,000 participants from different sectors (local and barangay officials, municipal employees, teachers, students,
homeowner associations, non-government organizations, environmentalists, civic-oriented groups, among others) are expected to join this event. Last March, the Local Government of Bacoor organized a fun run for a cause, dubbed as ‘Let’S Run para sa Kalikasan (Bawal na ang Plastic at Styro sa Bacoor)’ which launched Municipal Ordinance No. 14-S-2002 (regulating the distribution of plastic bags and polystyrene <Styrofoam> and providing penalties for violations thereof). Close to ten thousand runners participated. For further details, contact the Public Information Office on 046 434 4466 local 110, 0915 786 3907, 0919 205 8872. Major supporters of  the ‘Walk and Run for YES!’ (Alay-Lakad/Takbo Tungo sa Pagiging Lungsod ng Bacoor) are Planet Drusgtore, McDonalds-Molino, Emilus Mart, and Planet Cable.
